| Do
the early Welsh saints count for anything in today’s Wales – and who
were they, anyway? Come and find out more from this talk by Dr Gerald
Morgan, who has researched extensively into this shadowy area of
Wales’s history, disentangling fact from legend with dexterity. A former headmaster of two secondary schools, university lecturer and a prolific writer in both the languages of Wales on a variety of aspects of Welsh history, Dr Morgan has a considerable library of his own, collected over years. His recently published autobiography, Cymro a’i Lyfrau (A Welshman and his Books) centres on these volumes, and their influence on his life. The admission charge, to include post-lecture coffee and biscuits in the Oriel Suite, is £8 for tickets ordered by Friends in advance, and £10 at the door. To take advantage of the concessionary rate, please complete the slip below and send it with your cheque to: Ann Saer, 15 Highfields, Llandaf, Cardiff. CF5 2QA (Tel: 029 2056 2756; email: annsaer15@gmail.com) by Wednesday 14 February. To minimise postal costs, no receipt will be sent. Do come – and bring your friends too, since this event is open to the public and they will be very welcome to pay at the door. |
