are very pleased that the distinguished art historian Frances Spalding
has agreed to come and talk to us about John Piper. Francis Spalding is
also a critic and biographer and is currently Emeritus Fellow of Clare
Hall, Cambridge. She is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of
Literature, an Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Art and in 2005
was made a CBE for services to literature. She has spent her
professional life with specialist interest in twentieth century British
art. Her recent book on John Piper and Myfanwy Piper was revelatory and
widely acclaimed. The admission charge, to include post-lecture coffee and biscuits in the Oriel Suite, is £8 for tickets ordered in advance or £10 on the door.
